Team Mom's Lasagna Prepares for Ford Ironman Louisville

17 Team Members Train to Compete in Triathlon

August 1, Louisville , KY – Mom's Lasagna, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to funding cancer research, specifically breast cancer research, has a team of 17 men and women who will compete in the Inaugural Ford Ironman Louisville Triathlon on August 26, 2007 .The team will sport custom-made race gear that was specially created for this competition. The gear was made possible by National City Bank, with additional support from Tilford Dobbins Alexander Buckaway & Black PLLC, Mercer, Headfirst Performance, Train Smart, and Carpenter Chiropractic Center , PLLC.

Founder and Director of Mom's Lasagna, Inc. Patrick Schmidt has completed numerous multi-sport events, including Ironman events in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Madison, Wisconsin, and Lake Placid, New York. “This event is the hardest single day sporting event in the world, and for Ironman to take place in Louisville is a dream come true for me,” says Schmidt. “We've been training for this event for 9 months, and now that it's right around the corner, we know we have to throw it into high gear.”

About Ford Ironman Louisville

The inaugural Ford Ironman Louisville is scheduled for August 26 and will serve as a qualifier for the 2007 Ford Ironman World Championship taking place on October 13 in Kailua-Kona , Hawaii . Ironman consists of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and a 26.2 mile run. Athletes must complete the three disciplines in succession within the 17-hour time frame. The 2.4 mile swim for Ford Ironman Louisville will take place in the Ohio River and the bike and run course will take athletes throughout various areas of Louisville to include not only downtown but also Prospect, Clifton, the city of LaGrange, Clarksville, Ind. and Butchertown.
